I remember in 1990 when Ian announced he was going out to Kuwait for a few weeks to help out a local Vendor. I asked him whether it was good considering the heating up of the international situation. His response was "no bother", almost nonchalant. I tried to point out that he could get caught up in a very nasty situation, but he just smiled. I saw him again 6 months later after his release and there was no "post traumatic stress disorder", just a tan. His retort to "what was it like" was again "no bother", as if nothing had happened. "I did reduce my handicap" I think about that when I am faced with something difficult.
